Hospitality Copywriting Case Study

Ferry Boat Inn Website - Hospitality. B&B. Pub/Restaurant. Community.

My client was fully immersed in renovating this beautiful 16th Century pub when they asked me to write the website.

Not only were they taking a great deal of care in restoring the building and putting the pub back on the map for the local community (after years of neglect), but the refurbishment was stunning and it came with records dating back 500 years!

Located on the River Crouch the Ferry Boat Inn has been serving its local community since 1807, with records showing the old Ferry Boat transporting passengers back and forth since 1596.

It is no exaggeration to say, I LOVED this job and I’ve been meaning to take the dog (oh and my husband!) for a weekend ever since I wrote it. I loved learning about it’s history, pouring over the client’s beautiful photography, researching the local suppliers and learning about the local area - Blue House Farm Nature Reserve (a designated SSSI) is right next door.

And comfy rooms, open fires and gorgeous food to boot.

Writing the pub’s Potted History was a sheer delight - uncovering stories of treachery, romance, tragedy and horse-snatching! I got completely wrapped up in the characters and their stories.

I MUST go and book. The Ferry Boat Inn is in North Fambridge, the Maldon region of Essex. A hop, skip and a jump from the station.
