The Yacht Havens Group celebrated 50 years earlier this year and asked me write an article telling the story of how their first marina came to be, why their first marina opened in Lymington, how tricky it was to get planning permission, how they struggled to finance the original dredging and build, family connections, the growth of the group across the UK and The Netherlands and the changes they’ve seen in 50 years.

What I uncovered was a fascinating story of family, adversity, community and a love of yachting.
