Copywriter’s rant
We all remember what it was like to be in our first proper job, right?
It's invariably not what we did for the next 30 years and it's definitely not where we ended up. It was the start.
I have just had the most annoying conversation with a septuagenarian. An academic no less. Someone who has taught young people, seen the potential in them as they've passed through his halls.
The "septuagenarian" asked what my daughter was doing. I explained she was at Channel 4. He asked what she did. I told him.
"using her degree then" he quipped with a smirk on his face.
"not yet, but she will" I countered "she's learning every day and she's loving it".
Is it me or is it easy for the older generation to forget that we don't all start where we end up. It's a path to progress. And it's what we learn along the way that shapes our future. It's how we conduct ourselves, solve problems, pull rabbits out of hats and make other people feel about working with us that opens up doors.
I couldn't be prouder of our kids. That degree and the immense work ethic that came with it will serve our 'gal well her entire life.
Sanctimonious twit.
