Celebrating Earth Day 2025

A quick stop.

We’ve travelled to the other side of the world and bumped into my husband.

Duncan Ward by the roadside.

In Ward town no less 😂 😂

As a sustainability focused copywriter, New Zealand continues to astound me.

The countryside is so incredibly vast, clean, orderly and, now the rains are here, turning to green.

And the air fresh.

Row upon row of neatly clipped vines stretch up hill and down dale for miles and miles.

Freshly sheared sheep wander massive rolling hills and cows have so much lush grass to chew they’re sure to explode.

And there’s no rubbish in the gutters or hedgerows.

It feels like kiwis respect their towns and countryside. Even though the economy is struggling.

No one answer but - in one Professor of Marine Biology’s opinion - Air BnB is the scurge of society and not helping as so many young people head to Australia for work and living opportunities.

But it is heartening to see the huge value New Zealand put on their agriculture and livestock.

Cows, sheep & deer have the luxury of space.

Agriculture is New Zealand’s biggest commodity - obvs, they have the landscape for it.

They’re a world leader in dairy exports. Closely followed by meat, wood, fruit, veg & their glorious wine.

There are signs of agritech - on ads, in towns & warehouses - all over the place.

And for the friends we stayed with on Lake Taupo recycling, reusing, repurposing and composting a way of life.
